The answer is that there's no sign of a real break in conditions, or at least some decent rainfall, for several days yet.
The ECMWF 46-day forecast has been issued and it makes for interesting reading.

The first signs came in yesterdays ECMWF and GFS with hints of a trough arriving in the west and south of the UK late this week and into the weekend, bringing the prospects of thunderstorms.
