Another spell of exceptional heat ahead...

1 - June heat record likely to go: The hottest UK temperature recorded in June is currently 35.6C from 1976 and 1957. Much like the recent May record, this has the potential to be not just beaten, but widely smashed during the middle of this week, with modelled values to 38C in southern England.

2 - Extremely humid: Combined with heat will be very uncomfortable humidity, enhancing the hot feeling even in places where the outright temperatures or less significant. Muggy nights staying high into the teens or above 20C in urban areas are likely in the south.

3 - Dry, chance local thunder: There remains a chance of odd thunder showers on Monday into Tuesday, mainly from Wales into central-northern England, Yorkshire into parts of Lincolnshire. Very isolated downpours are possible, but many places are likely to be dry with hazy sun and high cloud.

4 - Hot winds develop: Breezy in the south on Monday, a stagnant day on Tuesday then a strengthening east to southeasterly wind Wednesday and particularly Thursday, very gusty hot winds will be notable by this time, 15-25mph widely, gusts may exceed 30mph. By the end of the week, a switch to south-southwesterly.

5 - Thundery breakdown late week: Uncertain timings, but by Thursday into Friday, an increasing risk of scattered bursts of thundery rain, soonest in the west. Then into the weekend, temperatures likely drop back to more manageable levels, but there's scope for thunderstorms more widely moving up from the south.
