Here we go with the new week and for many it's the first week of the school holidays. For others harvest is getting into full swing.

Temperatures are fairly flat in the north and west (see the temperature graph below) with spikes in rainfall, most in the west. Turning milder in the south and east later in the week.

So whether it's seaside or field, here are your 5 Weather Week Things to Know ...

1.Bright for today (Friday) and dry for many, There will be showers in the east, and a few over high ground this afternoon. Best sunshine the south.

2. Tuesday should be dry again for most with sunny spells, although scattered showers, most in the east Cloud increases in the west later on, bringing rain into Ireland.

3. Rain sweeps east on Wednesday bringing stronger winds too. This clearing to sunshine and showers from the west, heavy in Ireland and western Scotland.

4. Some heavy showers forming in the west on Thursday, but a few bright or sunny spells in-between. Drier and much brighter to the east with sunshine here.

5. Best in the east and south on Friday as cloud and rain arrive in the west once more, windy in Ireland and western Scotland.
