There will be much talk today of the 100-year anniversary of the Battle of Jutland.

And on such days I find it fascinating to go back and look at the weather charts for the day.

Below is the Daily Weather Report original chart for the day of the battle. Notice the observation in western Denmark, close to Jutland. It shows a light NW wind with a temperature of 50F. A ridge of high pressure extended over the south of the UK and into the southern North Sea.
