Unfortunately no-one has advised the weather machine that we expect better weather and so it's a week ahead of mixed conditions.

1. Snow today (Monday) over the Pennines, southern Uplands, central Scotland and Northern Ireland. Don't be surprised by snow at lower levels early this morning in northern England too. Getting drier to the south, and probably dry in northern Scotland until dark.

2. Tuesday sees cold weather in Scotland with some rain in the far north, brighter elsewhere and milder but with some heavy showers.

3. Wednesday is showery again and breezy too. Colder weather north and west, although the area of heavier showers.

4. Thursday sees showers in the east but drier and brighter in western areas. rather chilly for all but feeling better in the sunshine.

5. Milder for all on Friday, some rain and breezy in the west, drier and milder east.
