Just using on that strato-warming again

Something that has been forecasted for a while is a warming event in the stratosphere.

This begins in a few days times over northeast Siberia and then migrates over the Pacific Ocean.

Now. these things can cause cold weather a few days after the event, and this one does last for some time,.

The theory is that the expanding stratosphere pushes down on the troposphere, lowering heights and potentialy causing a shift south in the jet stream.

Now, this one is occurring over the Pacific, but the impact could be that heights compensate over and east of Greenland by expanding, causing an anticyclone here, and then that in tuns pushes the jet stream south over Europe and brings the British Isles back into a colder easterly flow.

It's something to watch, and is just in the mix. But the potential is there for a return to cold.

We'll be watching!
