SSW still on ECMWF but what does it mean?

A quick update on the stratospheric warming event forecast by the ECMWF towards the end of November and early December.

I'll talk more about it in today's Look Ahead, but it's still there on the ECMWF 6-week forecast (see below).

It has got a little weaker on the latest runs, and with the way EC has performed recently, it needs watching.

The impact of it? Well, that's up for debate, EC has backed off from colder temperatures but is still showing cool.
