As mentioned in yesterday’s look ahead video, here’s a closer look at the weather chart for 8th May 1945.
A warm sector covered most of the country, and this was responsible for bringing the much milder south to south east winds through much of England, Wales and Southern Scotland. Temperature is rose 27C in the afternoon.
But look to the wet and you can see a cold front. Behind this across the Ireland fresher weather arrived.
Until this day the month had started particularly cold with temperatures are well below freezing especially across south West England. But there was a quick reversal to the warm temperatures and then the month became white and thundery.
