The reindeer are prepped and the sleigh is freshly painted, but what of flying from Santa's workshop to the UK tonight?

Firstly, it's not actually that cold, Santa has experienced much colder weather in previous years. High pressure is over Scandinavia, but unusually this isn't (yet) bringing very cold weather into Europe.

There's a Midnight Clear sky through Lapland and the Baltic States as well as Sweden. Surface temperatures are below freezing, but at the levels where reindeer are flying it is quite warm, and so Santa's red jacket may need to be swapped for a t-short for some of the flight.

The reindeer can also have a rest if they take the flight routing across Denmark and then west into the UK. There is a strong east wind blowing, and so this is certainly going to be assisting them as they head towards out shores.

On arrival in the UK southern areas will be windy, gales on coasts, but dry and feeling chilly in that wind. Sky's have broken cloud and some clear spells.

Scotland and Northern Ireland will be dry with clear skies and a much lighter wind; ideal for a rest for the reindeer.

Hopefully Mrs Christmas has packed an umbrella for Santa because he and the reindeer will be getting wet as they head into the southern half of Europe and towards low pressure. It's going to be wet here, but will be mild.
