There's continuing signals from this mornings models that we are in for cooler weather next week.
This fits with our longer range predictions of a short lived hit of cold mid February.
GFS (left) and Canadian models both go with the idea of cooler conditions, whilst the ECMWF this morning is milder than it was yesterday .
The GFS T+156 for Tuesday (left, from www.weatheronline.co.uk) has a low over the south of the UK as an upper trough sweeps eastwards. The Canadian makes less of this but has similar signals.
If this was the case then an area of snow would likely affect part of the UK and Ireland, bringing a few centimetres to some.
Now, it's very early days, but the threat is definitely there. The uncertain in the models is causing concern, but the building blocks are there.
It's important to note this isn't a major hit of winter, but one that lasts few a few days and may just bring a snow scene for some.
